About This Spot

Stepping into Ad Hoc feels like slipping into a well-worn, inviting home where the hum of conversation mingles effortlessly with the clink of glasses and the gentle cadence of plates shared among friends. December 2025 Thomas Keller's informally styled thus "ad hoc" American restaurant serves up a pretty hefty combination of mainly Southern style cooking especially with their renowned fried chicken and biscuits dishes. It's a daily changing affair with a one set course of 4 servings which, did I mention, are served in generous portions and in shareable formats. Don't expect traditional fine dining protocols as the ambiance sets a fast paced and quirky decorative style in the motif of porcine figures and emblems. The meals are arguably basic but the execution leaves one to wonder the technical aspects of how the dishes were made. The wine selection and course amply partners the food while barely fits in your digestive tank as the meal progresses. Servers know only too well how it is and are friendly, attentive and gracious to help especially in preparing the inevitable takeaways. A special list of varied side orders are also available beyond the basic menu which can a respite for the frequent diner of the establishment. The place is well laid out with a non imposing bar and nooks that give enough privacy for you to work on your plates. Definitely a must for the Yountville visitor Reservations are highly recommended

Amazing fried chicken... juicy and crispy. I can finally say that I have been to The French Laundry fried chicken restaurant. I am no longer a basic KFC girl. I would highly recommend to try their fried chicken if you are visiting the wine valley. They have dine in and patio area for outdoor dinning. They do follow the covid protocols very well, all employees are masked and space was spread out in between tables. If I am in the area again, I will definitely get their boujee bucket of fried chicken to-go again!

I've dined here twice now and both times were superb. I love how the food is served family style and has a casual yet elevated feel. Their fried chicken is by far the best i've ever had. This recent time we also had a cut of iberico for the main dish and it was incredible. I'm also still thinking about their lobster mac and cheese almost 2 years later! Ad Hoc is a staple of Northern California for me, i can't recommend it enough!

My wife and I had a fantastic Sunday at Silverado Resort for the Procore PGA tournament, and we ended the night with a delicious meal at Ad Hoc. We made a reservation in advance and were seated in about 10 minutes. The server was super friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The food was absolutely incredible! We started with the grilled ribeye, mashed potatoes, and broccolini. The ribeye was perfectly seasoned and cooked to our liking, and the mashed potatoes were our personal favorite - fluffy, rich in flavor, and just so tasty. The broccolini was okay, but it had a bit too much pepper for our taste. My wife added on the buttermilk fried chicken, and it was crispy, juicy, and just perfect. The dessert was ice cream, and it was a bit of a novelty, but we had a great time trying the different flavored syrups they provided. My wife got the Flor d’ Luna drink, and it was fine, but it wasn’t her favorite. I got the old-fashioned, and it’s exactly the way I like it. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend making a trip to Ad Hoc. It’s a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for!

If you can get a reservation here, don’t skip this place!! Everything is fantastic and the flavors are masterfully put together. They use fresh ingredients from their shared garden with the French Laundry, and you can taste the excellence in each bite. A small but mighty family-style rotating menu that meant to match what’s fresh and in season. It’s a relaxed and chill ambiance, which is a nice change of pace from its neighboring fancy restaurants. An absolute must visit for a fraction of the price of the French Laundry.

Excellent food and service. Eating at the outdoor patio is wonderful. Our only issue with the outdoor area are the bees that want to sample some of the food. The staff put some fans on the table to keep the bees away. Overall we still love the place and will return again.

We visited this restaurant because of a friend’s recommendation of their tender fried chicken. We were not disappointed; it was juicy and delicious. However, I believe the price is a bit high for the quality of the meal. The waiters were very kind and professional, but the downside was that there were only two restrooms, and people had to wait in long lines to use them. It felt a bit strange in this nice restaurant.
